indexing integrity construction adopted

The standing registrar has accepted the recommendation of the methodology subcommittee to adopt a chained-hash construction for catalogue integrity.

Each accessioned record shall, with effect from this issue, carry a proof-hash computed over the canonical serialisation of the record's identifying fields, chained to its predecessor under the canonical ordering. The construction is described informally in the methodology document and formally in an internal memorandum.

The chain has been computed retroactively across all accessioned records back to the founding entry; subscribers may request the head-hash by post.
