retention of photographic plates

The registry will retain photographic plates of accessioned specimens for a minimum of fifty years from the date of accession. Plates from records that have since been withdrawn are retained on the same schedule.

Subscribers requiring earlier disposal must apply in writing; such applications are considered on a case-by-case basis and rarely granted.
